About Caroline

Who is behind the typewriter:
Caroline is a full-time mother who enjoys blogging, cooking and baking, DIY, before & afters, photography, homesteading, knitting, sewing and dabbling in things from here to there. She graduated from the University of Georgia in Women's Studies, and  was specifically interested in negotiating feminism's approach to motherhood and childbirth. Having two children while completing her undergraduate has given her a unique perspective on higher education and feminism, as well as informing her parenting. When it comes to parenting, she believes in following her instincts.
She sincerely loves domestic endeavors, and especially, eating. Local and seasonal fare keep things interesting.

Caroline blogs at "The Feminist Housewife" about anything and everything that life brings her way, from pursuing becoming a doula, to potty training, to home birth, to what she ate last night, or one of the many house projects that are in progress.

She lives in a 110 year old farmhouse, her first house, and is slowly working to restore it and make it home.

And her ten-year plan is to one day become a midwife.

When Caroline Met David:
David and Caroline started dating in 2006 after meeting (and flirting) at Caroline's high school graduation in Atlanta, Georgia. After two years of coupledom, and many bumps along the road, such as a long distance relationship, attending different colleges, and unsupportive parents, we tied the knot on June 28th, 2008! We moved to Athens, Georgia in July 2008 to attend the University of Georgia.

In October of the same year, we had a little surprise in the form of a pink plus sign on a pee stick! After a difficult pregnancy while working and attending school full-time, including (but not limited to) pre-term labor, bed rest, heart problems, black outs, and lots of morning sickness, Caroline gave birth to Dmitri Aleksandr Octavius on July 11th, 2009. A year later, we embarked on the journey of adding baby boy #2 to the family, Damon August, who was born at home on March 23rd, 2011. Dmitri and Damon are now 3.5 and almost 2 respectfully, and are the best of friends. They are excited to become big brothers to our newest addition, due on Mother's Day 2013!

The last few years have been a filled with house-buying, baby-raising, overworked college student, craziness. As of December 2012, we both have graduated and are looking forward to what's next....while we do not know what the future will bring, we are excited and slightly anxious, but full of hope. And we will blog all about this new chapter in our journey.

About the husband:
David: earned a double major in Cognitive Science and Philosophy. He graduated December of 2012 and is in the midst of waiting to hear back from graduate schools. We are both excited to see where we end up. In his free time, he enjoys reading, watching TV, and building projects.

Hi there, just found your blog, not even sure how I came to it, but so excited to "meet" you! Can't wait to keep reading. Also wanted to offer help with the Russian language...even though I'm technically a native speaker my fluency is probably the same as a fifth graders.

Caroline, your bio is so impressive. You already empower women! Look at all that you have accomplished so far. I'm tired just reading about it.;)...and now I'm "following" you!

I just came across your site, catchy name ;-) I am a longtime feminist, new(ish) mom and now a "housewife". From what I can see, I have an interest in everything you're writing about! I'm looking forward to reading more from you and hopefully learning some stuff too.

Small world! I am an art education grad student at UGA and I took Feminist Theories from the WST department last summer. I'm graduating this December, too! I blog for DIY-ers and art teachers at The Daily Telecraft. I really have enjoyed looking at your blog. Keep up the awesome work! :)

In a world of anti-feminist housewife blogs, it is refreshing to see one that is pro-feminism.

Thanks!
