Ikea Mirror Makeover

This was my first college dorm room. Courtesy of Ikea. It worked for me and I was proud of the room I created on a small college student budget. But now, though I have the same small budget, I am looking for a little bit more design, creativity, and adventure in my decorating. The simple black mirror wasn't working for me, and has been sitting in my closet for the past two years.

I knew that one day, I would give it a new life. And today was that day.

So, less than $8 later...

a close up - bamboo skewers found at the grocery store

I glued bamboo skewers (like for shish kabobs; they can be found at the grocery store)  to the back with my hot glue gun, and spray painted it cherry red. A couple hours and a couple dollars later my mirror is funner (that should be a word, right?) and happier!

Later this week, I'll reveal the dresser that it hangs over. Let's just say it started out...purple and periwinkle!
