I love Anthropologie. I worked there for several months, and let me say, very little of my paycheck came home with me. Especially with the employee discount, I could hardly resist. Now my Anthropologie shopping visits are much less frequent. But when I saw these bottles there...I loved them!
However, the $88-$598 price tags? Yeah, right.
This one was my favorite. So I decided to make it...
I started with a bottle from Homegoods ($2.99) and a starfish from Michaels ($4.99). This project could be even less expensive if you use a 40% coupon at Michaels! (I needed mine for a more expensive item).
I took the top off of the bottle. Hot-glued the starfish into the mouth of the bottle (with several layers of hot glue). I propped the bottle against the wall while it dried. I wrapped natural jute around the bottle neck (with a little hot glue, of course).
Voila...My $8 Look for Less!

that looks great- very beachy! i always love anthro, but not the prices, so it's nice to see the style for less!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! I have the same problem with Anthropologie - I love that store more than any other, but have stopped visiting almost entirely because I'm tired of falling in love with items I would never purchase for the price they ask. It's hard to beat a place like Anthro for inspiration though!
ReplyDeleteAwesome job. Way to create what you want for less!
ReplyDeleteperfect! i love to steal anthro ideas. this idea is definitely going on my crafty to-do list.
ReplyDeleteIf I worked at Anthropologie I would be in debt! Great inspiration!
ReplyDeleteCaroline, that looks REALLY good!

p.s. Walmart sometimes has those starfish in bulk on sale for a few dollars!
What a great job on your knock-off version!
ReplyDeleteWow- that looks great! I love that idea. I personally think I like yours better than anthropologies!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! I actually make the soldered version just like the ones that antrhopologie carries and it's super easy. It's the crystals that can be a bit unruley! :) So excited to see this - you did a great job! Thanks for sharing! http://niagaranovice.blogspot.com
