Pom Poms Get Political: Or Pink Isn't Just for Girls

Hitting 30 weeks was just a little reminder that I need to finish up our nursery/playroom. I'm in the middle of many projects for this room...and I have to say, designing a room for a child/baby is so much fun.

Pom Poms have been quite the craze for a while now, and while I'm a little late jumping on the trend I still love how fun and colorful they are. So I put together a grouping...



I would like to say that this was a really easy project. But there is nothing easy about a 30 week pregnant lady on top of an 8 foot ladder trying to hang giant balls of paper from the ceiling! I'll spare you a picture. But luckily everyone survived, despite my frequent, "UGH, stupid balls..." outbursts.

As you can see, the fact that we are having two boys did not stop me from throwing in the Pantone color of the year (although, the decision to do so was made before I knew that Honeysuckle was the color of the year). And I refuse to believe that pink is just for girls...or that any color has gender, actually.

So there is my political decorating statement of the year. ; )

    Good for you! I love that its not all baby blue and green. I think it looks great and im actually going to do a grouping of multi colored pompoms for my nephews shower next month! :) so thanks for the inspiration!

    Yay! I love it. I grow so weary of parents-to-be telling me, "We need to know the sex of the baby so we paint the room the right colour". I have bought neutral and pale blue clothing as gifts for some baby gals in my family, only to have my gift gather dust. Sheesh.

    Wow, those are way cute! I've wanted to try making them before, but haven't really had a reason to. Other than the fact that it would just be fun!

    Adam's right there with you. He doesn't care that the doll he got for Christmas is wearing pink. It's still "Baby Brudder." :)

    I'm with you. Pink can def be for boys etc. The grouping looks great -- as does the rest of the nursery. Nice one!
