Quick Update

-Classes are great. We already have lots of homework. Our first tests are September 4th.

-We are looking for David a new job.

-I'm in the beginning stages of starting my own invitation/stationary design business. I'm focusing on my portfolio this week and beginning web designs.

-Balancing work/school/friends/ is challenging.

- I am really enjoying working at Helix, and my coworkers are awesome.

- We are spending Labor Day Weekend in Nashville with my parents, brothers, and grandparents. We are both so excited about the holiday, and I cannot wait to show David the Opryland Hotel and Rainforest Cafe. We will also be watching my brothers play a football game there.

Going Green.

As I was leaving to go to work today, I discovered the alternator in our car was broken...with about fifteen minutes to be at work (it's a little more than a mile). So I grabbed my running shoes and made it there in 13 minutes. Not bad considering a lot of it is uphill. That's not much compared to the four miles that David walked to get home from the auto shop..only to realize he left the house key in the car, so he scaled the balcony to get inside.

Unfortunately, the alternator cost us our life savings. Ok, so I exaggerate...but that's what it felt like. We should have the Saab by tomorrow.

We are enjoying UGA and we both absolutely love Athens. It's such a charming town, yet so alive! It's great to be able to walk anywhere if we must. That's something that I've never experienced anywhere that I've lived.

Classes are great thus far. I kept the same classes with the exception of changing my Physics 1111 class and lab for a Horticulture/Plant Biology class. I have decided to become a witch doctor when I "grow up." Just kidding...but seriously, our textbook is "Encyclopedia of Herbal Medicine." How nifty is that?

That's all for now.

Work, School, Etc.

I worked until 6:15 today, got to spend about 20 minutes with my husband, and now he's at work until 10 or 11 pm. It's the first time that I've been home alone in our apartment in Athens. I've never noticed the clock ticking so loudly before.

I'm preparing my class schedule for Orientation tomorrow. We are preparing to start school on Monday. Yesterday we did the back-to-school shopping spree, as if we were lemurs. I remember how fun it used to be to pick out folders with cute kittens on it, and pencils decorated with my favorite cartoon character. It's just not the same anymore; though David and I had a great time arguing (playfully of course) over who could get the red back pack. That brings back memories. And for the record, we both got the red back pack, which I'm sure will help our stigma as the weird married couple who takes classes together, have the same back pack, same planner, same notebook, and obviously, live together.

One thing that is very different from Kennesaw, UGA is such a large campus that when you register for classes, it lets you know if your classes are further than 15 minutes away from each other...that's over a mile between classes! Luckily, it looks like my three back-to-back classes are in three buildings that are in the same cul-de-sac. I'll finalize that tomorrow at Orientation.

Anyways, unless you find the details of my very specific laundry regimen interesting or want the recipe for homemade vodka sauce, I have run out of things to type for now.

Keep in touch, write me some comments, and love people!

Newlyweds

David and I got married June 28th, 2008 in Cashiers, North Carolina.

We had been dating two years as of June 20th! For those of you who haven't heard the story, we met at my high school graduation. David read my bio in the program, and when he saw me, he walked up to me and started a conversation. (oh, so smooth.) It was as close to love at first sight as it comes. (Which I don't even believe in! Go figure) Three days after we met, I told my mom that I was going to marry him! Despite long distance, parent issues, and changing as individuals, David and I are happily married, living in Athens, GA and attending the University of Georgia.

So here is our blog to chronicle married life and keep in touch!
