7 Months Old

Dmitri and Dante play tug-a-war: their favorite game

Neither of them are letting go without a fight

Every month I think, wow, Dmitri has grown so much and changed immensely. I apologize for the redundancy, but I guess that's what having a child is like..always morphing, growing, evolving.

This month has been a huge change for us all, because Dmitri is completely mobile. It's made us realize how our apartment is a baby trap that could cause an accident at any time. Yikes. And this child lives for danger. He doesn't want to play with his toys. No, he'd much prefer the electrical cords. The space heater is one of his favorites. That mom that they joke about putting a toaster in her child's bath, the kid probably just really liked playing with cords and the mom was a little out of it from sleep deprivation.

One night at 3:30 AM he crawled across the bed to David's side, climbed on the pillow, and started playing with David's hair (one of his favorite things to do). It was pretty cute.

So here are a few of the things Dmitri is up to, in to, and about:

-Crawling everywhere (he's pretty fast now.)
-Pulling himself to standing while holding on to something
-Transitioning from sitting to crawling to standing (while holding something) and vice versa
-He tries to stand up and breastfeed at the same time (inconvenient)
-He follows after me if I leave the room, while squawking
-He loves the chicken dance
-Two teeth!
-He has experimented with food a little more.  He's eaten pieces of toast, oranges, lemons, apples, avocado, cantaloupe, pickles, and he'll eat hot cereal (only if I let him help hold the spoon!)
-He loves his stuffed bunny (it was supposed to be his Easter present, but Daddy gave it to him early)
-He has mastered drinking from his sippy cup

We love every minute of having him in our lives. Though, I have to admit, I'm ready for nights that involve less sleep interruption!

Love the baby and puppy playing together! So precious! ... The sleep interruption thing, though. You get breaks now and then when they start sleeping through the night. But now my girls are 6 and 3, and they are getting up *too* *early*! So I'm thinking I'll get a good night's sleep in 2025. ;-)

I love the newer picture of you and your family, and thanks for sharing about Dmitri too... Being taken out of sleep at 3:00 + in the morning seems part of the joyous sacrifices we make when we mother ; )
we get a glimpse of those things that will become great memories~

He is so adorable. Isn't it so special to get to watch him go through all this growing and changing. Even now with teens that amazing feeling of witnessing their blossoming into who they were meant to be is awesome.

My dearest young femininist. I have been sitting back watching, listening, reading and relishing your sweet family. I have also noted your growth, Dimitri's and your wavering emotions and I smile. You have so much more than many will ever have. You are both educated, have a living doll, a dog, a new house, albeit, a possible money pit (in a good way)and despite your lack of sleep you seem to me- joyous. Not sure how you manage to have so much - while both still in college, hubby at Starbuck.... However I celebrate your new beginnings with awe, wonderment and lots of cheer. If I may share a little something...it gets sooooooooooo much better and you will wonder where all the time went...trust me you will..
lovingly a MUMM

Hi Caroline - Thanks so much for your comment! As a fellow graduate student, I think you are so, so brave to do school and motherhood! Sometimes I feel I can barely handle school and being a "mom" to our fur babies. :) Love your blog ... Definitely looking forward to reading more!
