Exhaustion

I have not been up to much, primarily because I am SO tired.

As in, cannot move from the couch to get water, tired. Like, taking a shower makes me exhausted just by thinking about it.

Dmitri got his first tooth (teeth?), which has kept him up at night. Plus, he is perfecting his crawling. Evidently the bed is the perfect place for practice, and in the middle of the night I will find him playing down by my feet. I'm a pretty light sleeper, and his antics rouse me. It's not as if I can restrain him from moving around at night. (Side note: Our mattress is on the floor, so safety is not an issue..He can crawl off the mattress with ease. I don't want the Parent Police chasing me down.)

One night this week, I was up with him nine times before 5 AM. Yes, 9. As in, neuf, nove, nueve. And he has been waking up by 7 AM.

How do you say to a seven-month-old, "You know, I don't think this whole relationship thing is going to work out. And it's not me, it's definitely you."

So I have exhaustion headaches, and I'm fighting off a cold. I had a UTI (cranberry juice & vodka for mama) last week, and I think I might be getting a stomach bug.

I'm sorry to whine, but I just can't go on like this. I have classes, and work, and papers, and dinner to make, and laundry...I've already missed several classes, and it's the first of February!

Sometimes, parenting sucks.

Any suggestions, aside from inserting a caffeine drip?

I wish I had some advice for you. Sorry. But I do hope you get some sleep very soon...

poor thing! the only thing i could suggest is putting him in a crib in the same room, but that would probably just upset him & he would keep you up all night crying instead of crawling around. i hope you get some sleep soon!

Hang in there. I've been through the up 9 times a night bit and it's not fun. Any chance you could get some help until you are over the illness? You need a break to recover.

Good luck. {{Hugs}}

Uhmmm. It sucks 'til it's over. That's the best I got. (And someone else said if someone could help you around there, that'd be good -- I agree.)

Okay. Question. I know about cranberry juice, but is the vodka medicinal or just for fun when you have a UTI?

The best advice I ever got was sleep when the baby sleeps-
and also- maybe bribe someone to take him for a few hours so you can get some rest- don't worry about the housework etc... the world will not come to an end if the house gets a little dirty and the laundry takes longer than usual to get done...
Being a mom is hard... just wait till he's a teenager- you won't sleep for other reasons! :)

That is so hard. I have no real advice, having been there and felt the same as you, I just feel your pain. Hugs.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

We have 5 sons and agree pretty much with your parenting philosophy... I did use disposable diapers after using cloth for the first several months. We think routine circumcision is crazy. All of our boys slept with us... even our twins and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Breast feeding is awesome and IMHO essential. Good luck with the sleeping stuff. It can be hard but remember to take things one day at a time.

I personally am not a fan of the cookie cutter houses that pop up everywhere. We live in a 100+ year old Victorian that is in a constant state of renovation (mainly because we won't go into debt to do any of it). In my book character and good bones wins every time. Good luck with whichever one becomes home for you!
