East Coast Road Trip 2010: The Plan

I have not been working on as many house projects this week, because on top of school, an internship, a baby, planning Dmitri's 1st birthday, and just trying to get food on the table, I have been planning our East Coast Roadtrip 2010 (also known as, oh-my-gosh-we-are-going-on-a-49-hour-roadtrip-with-a-one-year-old-and-I-need-a-drink-just-thinking-about-it-but-I-can't-drink-and-drive-so-this-could-be-a-problem-but-I-cannot-wait-for-the-craziness-2010).

It's going to be an insanely fun, unforgiveable, unforgetable, adventure of a lifetime.

6 Cities
17 Days
49 hours of driving
2755 Miles
1 Baby
2 Crazy Parents

Our major stops will be:
Washington, DC
Boston
New York City
Maine

and stops in two towns along the way there and back to see family.

It will be on a tight budget, and I'll be sharing tips/mistakes/ideas/and all of the fun with you...

So get excited, because our departure is just a month away.

How exciting!!! I'm actually going on a very short 5 day road trip to the west coast (Oregon) with some friends from July 5th-10th. I have been planning on blogging about it, too. I'm excited to read more about your trip!

Exciting! Let me know if you need any advice about Boston or Southern Maine. I grew up in coastal NH/southern ME and have lived in and around Boston for about 10 years.

We took a road trip similar to this once, only not with a one year old, bless your heart!

I CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR ALL ABOUT IT and show my husband all the pictures so I can somehow convince him to plan another road trip for us.

Are y'all just traveling for the fun of it or do you have family/events to attend along the way?

Maine! I LOVE Maine. I'm a native Texan & was once ready to move there. Then I considered the winters! LOL Have fun!

Oh! In Washington, please DO go to Alexandria. It's the most beautiful little town at the end of the blue line. There is pub called O'connels - I think that's what it's called, at least? Anyways, it's an Irish pub, right along the main strip. Incredible food. Everything there is imported from Ireland, and it's BEAUTIFUL. Walk down the rest of the strip to the waterfront, and sometimes, if you're luck, there is a man using water glasses to make music. I loved to just stand and watch him play.

Maybe you've already been there and this is repetitive? Not sure. Also, while I was living there, I loved visiting Ebenezer's coffee house, right by Union Station, and the film festivals...OH the film festivals...

I just wrote you a novel :/. :). Have fun. My family did a two month trip around the states when I was 12. I learned to adore and hate my brothers more passionately than ever before.

I imagine I will pick up my jaw tomorrow. Then I'll think about this and it'll drop again. Holy cow! And I'm wondering if we'll survive a 3-4 hour FLIGHT with our girls!!!

How fun!!! We are planning a cross-country road trip for two summers from now (child-pending) so, I applaud the effort with a baby! That will be a great vacation!
