Fireplace Before & After + BLUE

In this photo, you can see the "blah" green that was in our living, the too-big-for-it's-britches shelf that took away from the beauty of the fireplace, and the fireplace with it's 4 different paint colors. Really not working for us.

We simplified the fireplace by painting it white. I'm loving the cobalt and how it pops against the tongue in groove ceilings. Now that we have our canvas, the fun part begins - new sofas, window treatments, light fixture...and Georgia O'Keefe. Get excited!. ; )

What do you think? Do you like the blue, or do you prefer more muted colors?

  3. I love the blue! It looks gorgeous! And the white fireplace really is tons better.

We love bold colors at our house! We plan on painting our kitchen a deep-ish red. Eventually. We also just bought paint for our office. It's a pretty slate color.

  5. Hi there
I think the blue looks great!!

Life should be bright and happy and colour in your home is the best way to do that!!!

  6. I'll be honest... I don't care for the blue but it's your home and it should be what YOU like. I'm a more yellows and reds or maroons and tans kind of woman. :) It does look better with that huge shelf gone.... made the fireplace look miniature.

  7. So bold - love the ceilings and fireplace against the new colour. Well done! It's going to be so exciting to see the whole room coming together with the furniture pieces and accessories! We just re-did our kiddies room and now I am itching to tackle our lounge! Will be keeping an eye out for the finished room! Way to go. Janine

  18. Haha, I was wondering if you'd get rid of that shelf! It's been bugging me since you first showed the house! It was by far way too large. I think the color turned out awesome. I can't wait to see what you do with the place!

  22. Man, oh man, I love it! The fireplace is drop dead gorgeous now - the white really shows off its curves. And the blue is so dramatic, but still very cozy and inviting. When can I visit? :P

I was telling my boyfriend earlier this week about how all of my inspiration photos have light walls (light blue, light green, off-white, etc.) so I am obviously drawn to white walls, but then I thought of your inspiration photo for this room and now after seeing this reveal, I am thinking I really love dramatic blue walls, too!

good job...and did you put in the tongue in groove on the ceiling? i'd love to do that in my place, but would love to know how labour-intensive it is!! :)
thanks for the visit and comments today!
