One Theme: Two Ways (Beach Edition)

I have been thinking about how different trends are interpreted by different designers, buyers, merchandisers, and stores. I thought it would be a fun segment to do a compare and contrast of popular themes in decor and their interpretations by major decor stores, like Anthropologie, Pottery Barn, West Elm, Ballard, etc.. It's the "you say tomato, I say tomato" of design. I guess that works better when said out loud, eh?

Today's Theme: BEACH INSPIRED

I hope you enjoyed the segment. I feel like all of these pieces are unique twists on beachy, sea-inspired decor.  I hope you found inspiration. Are you a bohemian Anthropologie shopper or do you like the more classic Pottery Barn look? Or perhaps you are like to mix traditional and whimsical pieces.

What do you think of the segment? Want to see more? Feel free to suggest future themes!

Awesome idea! I am definitely a mix between traditional and whimsy so I'm loving both takes on everything!

Definitely a mix! I love the coral curtains from Anthropologie but I prefer the Octupus/Sea horse pillows from Pottery Barn.

I love this new segment, and I love your designs! Wish you were close to me. My house needs some majore make over skills.

You picked three of my very favorite places! Some days I wish I could live in Anthropologie. I'd burrow down into one of their luxurious Rosette quilts and watch the shoppers pass. In a perfect world, my home would be outfitted with West Elm furniture, Anthropologie decor, and Pottery Barn creature comforts. Heh - Dream big!

I love how each store has their own unique twist, yet for the most part they mesh well together.

Also - I went after a gorgeous shade of cobalt (Behr Quiet Storm) in hopes of modeling my bedroom after your living room. I now have a 3' x 5' splotch of a blue more teal than the sample chip ever indicated - it's awful! Funny how a chip can look so different from the dried result, primer and all. :) It baffles me how something so gorgeous in one space can look so wrong in another. Better luck next time I hope!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this post! I would theme everything around the beach if I could. I was also surprised to find that I am pretty 50/50 on Anthropologie and Pottery Barn.
