Curb Appeal: Front Door Makeover

When we bought our house, it kind of looked like a big grey box. See:

However, I felt that it had so much potential to be a cute, warm, cottage. Lately, we have been so focused on the inside (oh yeah, and having a baby!), that the outside has not gotten much attention.. But with the warmer weather, I have been looking for any reason to be outside. And working on outside projects seems to be the perfect excuse.
We started our outside makeover by adding black shutters, several months ago. The front door, the first thing you notice when you enter our house, was not setting the mood that I wanted to resonate through the rest of the house. And as much as I liked our screen door, it felt a little, blah. So the front door got a quick, but bright makeover this past week.

The window box got some spring love too:

There is still so much I would like to do with the porch and flower beds. But I'm excited to be making a little progress!

Love Love Love Caroline!!! Grey and yellow are one of my favorite color combos! Love how the door pops and highlight those adorable windows that frame the door.
Hope you are getting some sleep momma!

Cute! I love bright doors. I have a big thing for plum doors and red doors, but finding the perfect shade is so tricky!

I LOVE the yellow door! So pretty. The verbena is great, too. I might need to plant some at my house.

What a charming house! It has so much potential...and you've already begun. Love the bright door!!! (My husband won't let me paint ours...but that's ok. He lets me go crazy elsewhere. He even puts up with my funky bottle tree on the lanai!)

Thank you for stopping by Artfully Graced. Your comments are sweet...and it gave me the opportunity to meet you. Love Athens (I went to Mercer in Macon...YEARS ago!)
Hope to see you again soon...

Go Yellow! Wait, I am also obsessing over the window box! How sweet and inviting! I also have a gray house...with a plain white door, and have been collecting yellow door photos for months! Perhaps you will be my inspiration one day! xox!

love the bright pop of yellow on the door- I keep wanting to incorporate bright yellow accents in my home but then get too nervous and "safe".

Also, I am always amazed what a difference a couple cheerful flowers can make. I made a resolution to always have fresh flowers (either potted or cut) in my apartment. I don't have an outside window box, but there is always something blooming either in my kitchen or my entrance way. :)

What a cheery and fun color, it looks fantastic next to the gray. I am impressed that you are already tackling home improvements so soon after the baby's birth- great job.

I LOVE your house! I grew up in an old house and my first home was old, but I live in a newer home now. I miss the charm of an old house! The yellow and gray look great together and the urns are really cute. My house is gray, too and I've been planning on doing an orange door, but your pics definitely have me thinking about yellow!
