Having just learned to knit in the last 6 months, I still make a lot of errors. Especially when I have to jump up in the middle of a row to make sure that neither of my children push each other off the porch, or leaps off the kitchen table, or overflows the bathtub, or does a front flip on the tile floor. Wait, do I knit or pearl?
Not to mention keeping my yarn hidden from the dog...
I completed a scarf and a couple dish clothes, but I ripped them all out because the little mistakes bothered me. After several months of frustration, a lot of practice, a countless hours untangling, I am finally getting to where I can try to repair my errors, or be careful enough to not make them in the first place. Knitting while the children play outside, in the evenings, or with friends over tea has worked a lot better too.
And so, I am so excited to present my first pieces that have survived my perfectionism:
A scarf for Dmitri: knitted out of 100% Alpaca. So soft! I will probably sew a little embellishment on it and it will be his "wear" gift for Christmas.
A cotton dishcloth
And my current reads. I just finished Radical Homemakers and loved it! I'll have to review it soon. And "Extra Yarn" is my littles favorite, right now. We read it every night at bedtime.
Do you knit? I must admit, it's a little addicting. I can't wait to cast on something new...
I'm joining in on the Yarn Along at Small Things! = )

Congratulations on your first FOs! Love the title of your blog!
Always knitting, often casting on, yes for me, very addicting, in a very special way.
Your projects - in a word - perfect!
I am partial to green...its my go to color. Congratulations on the FO's.
I am working on a Christmas Fairy for Friday. I hope to have it done by then so I can share the pattern. Key words "Hope TO"

Very pretty finishes in lovely greens! I love to knit. I'm always looking for a new project to cast on, even before I finish what I'm working on.
Such lovely knitting projects, and the colour of the scarf is lovely.
Taking a little look around your blog, seems we have a lot in common. I will be back to visit again :)
I love that green color!
I really enjoyed Radical Homemakers as well. SO many good tips!
I was on a road trip once and we stopped at a little place in Athens to listen to this band covering a lot of allman bros. Well I got super wasted and made a huge fool of myself (says my friend). I saw you were from athens...thought you might like to know that :-) long time ago...prob 8 years.
i loved extra yarn and sent it with a friend on her vacation this week! Great knitting! I did real basic in about 4th grade for 4H and then started to relearn it a few years ago. I'm not real confident, but you can always rip it out and do it over. A couple of balls of yarn could last a lifetime!! But there are so many that need a home, I can't leave them behind! Enjoy
Have you considered knitting something, and then felting it? Basically you knit something like a bag bigger than you need in wool, then toss it in the wash and it shrinks up, creating a dense fabric that hides most mistakes you may have made knitting!
I also just finished Radical Homemaker. Great read!
