Burlap Button Pillow

Since it's all about burlap this season, I designed and made my Burlap Button Pillow. I love how adding natural fibers to a room creates a feeling of continuity with nature. It adds depth, texture, and flavor! I have not had very much time to do anything due to Dmitri still being sick. = ( But I was able to whip this up. If a tutorial is desired, I'd be more than happy to write one!

Detailed look at the burlap button flowers

I learned during this project, that Dmitri is terrified of the sewing machine! He wails whenever I press the pedal!

And by the way, that is definitely not the couch that it will be on! = )

*Edit*

I am SO excited, because my pillow was featured on U Create ! One of the coolest craft sites, ever. Definitely check out Kari's site!

Tutorial:
I was inspired by Vanessa at V & Co. with her "Snow ruffle Pillow." She has an excellent tutorial, and I look forward to making one! I wanted a Burlap ruffle pillow, but, burlap doesn't exactly "gather" like flannel does. Nor is it nearly as snuggley! But that hardly makes me love it less...

So, instead of gathering the fabric, I folded it. I made each "petal" about an inch. So simply "fold" it back and forth and sew it together by hand. Once I folded and sewed the entire strip, I sewed the ends together to make it a circle. Then I attached it to my pillow. I sewed a button in the middle! Voila!

Not exactly the most clear tutorial, my apologies. Let me know if you have any questions!

That looks GREAT!
Poor guy is scared of the sewing machine! Maddy is scared of the food processor! I guess they just don't like the loud noises... Hope he gets better soon!

WOW! These are beautiful! On another note, I was a HUGE fan of washing machines as a child... My mother owned a factory while she was pregnant with me. To this day the laundry room is most relaxing to me. =)

Thanks Caroline, for stopping by my blog! Congratulations on your marriage and your baby (I breast-fed my daughter for a full year and it certainly does strengthen the immune system! She is now 16 and it has shown throughout- not only that, it's a beautiful bonding experience). Pretty blue background on your blog, sweet family picture too!
