I have been obsessing working on a gallery wall for Dmitri & baby boy's room for several weeks now. Trying to get the right photos, which frames to paint, which to leave, and what colors! Well, this is what I ended up with- and I'm loving it.
And here it is in larger context:
All of the photos, with the exception of the center image, are from Dmitri's newborn photo shoot. And don't worry, I know it currently looks like a shrine to Dmitri, but baby brother will be incorporated just as soon as he arrives! I am determined to take just as many photos of my second child as my first, despite everyone telling me it won't happen. (Don't test me, people!!)
The ingredients:
-7 frames - already had (many of them came from Target)
-wooden letter P - Anthropologie (on sale a couple years ago, but they always have really fun letters)
-red paint: a little bottle of acrylic from Michael's ( < $1)
-yellow paint: leftover from a previous project - a high gloss spray paint from Lowe's
-a few nails that were laying around
So there you go, a gallery wall that cost me less than a dollar. By giving a few frames a face-lift with some paint, I made what I had work for the space. No purchasing necessary.
If you want to create a gallery wall and don't have any leftover frames, consider looking at Goodwill (or other thrift stores), and Hobby Lobby's clearance section. Even if the colors aren't right, don't forget the magic of paint!

Your photo gallery looks fantastic. One may think this an easy task to do but getting just the right shape of frames together in a pleasing arrangement can be frustratingly difficult. You've done a lovely job of it.
I love this!!!
You always make everything look so cheap and easy, oh yea and awesome!
I love picture galleries. I love that you combined different color and shape frames in yours. I guess I'm a boring traditionalist with all black rectangular frames haha! I have one that encompasses nearly an entire wall in my living room and its still a work in progress. I have added to it since this post but I havent gotten a chance to write about it yet! Great job on yours!!

I love it! That's so creative!!
As encouragment to your photo taking of baby 2 - I've taken just as many of my second child as my first, it's just, the first ends up in a lot of those too! :)
Love the wall!
Gorgeous!!! I'm convinced I'll have more pictures of baby brother than Adam because I've learned so much about photography in the last year.
Is your baseboard relaly that thick or did you fake it?
So lovely! Love your new gallery. I love the mix of frames. Way to go - and how cool that it only cost you $1!!
Wow. Great!
It looks lovely! I love random art gallery walls!
Oh I love it! I have so many pictures sitting around that I need to arrange in a gallery.
Good luck with your birth decision, btw.

Very nice, love the different color frames.
This looks great. I love the variety of colors and shapes. Makes it so much more interesting. And, I'm adoring your wall color. Off to look at more. =)
I love it! I would never know how to put all those different frames together, but you made it work! I want to do a photo display on one of our walls, but I feel like I don't know where to begin.
I have to agree, Goodwill is a great place to look for cheap frames. I've found several there that just needed a fresh coat of paint.
