If this is traditional, then I must be really boring.

You have probably seen this gorgeous apartment by these lovely ladies. She just had a wonderful spread in Traditional Home.
I never, ever, going-into-my-future-grave-flopping, thought that I would like a style considered "Traditional"...I just don't do things the traditional way. I don't even like the word. It's so, thick and syrupy. And when someone says it, it's normally accompanied by little spitballs.

But yet, this is one of my favorite inspiration photos for our home.

Am I losing my style-zest? Or is this apartment just claimed by "Traditional Home" because they know that it's in good taste? Thoughts, please!?

Yes to everything you said. Maybe the components pass for traditional, but the mixture? Hardly, I think.

My favorite part is the luggage rack used for books.

I consider myself traditional (read: boring), and this is not my idea of the definition. But most of my walls are still white, too, except for the PINK ones in my girls' room. :-)

It doesn't say 'traditional' to me. It looks more (gorgeously) eclectic.

There is NOTHING traditional about that home but the white walls. Everything about it screams eclectic and I love it! The walls could use some color though.

I have 3 boys and I can tell you, you will want to write so many things down. Their little minds just think so differently than ours do. My boys will say something about "GIRLS" and I will say "I'm a girl and your little sister is a girl"--their explanation --we don't count. So the equation of grossness attached to girls doesn't DRIP onto you or they just don't consider YOU to be of the female CLAN--you are just a MOM.

Just came across your blog... think you're lovely and that adorable little man! (believe me, I know I have 5) Oh, and great images too... but I'd definitely agree there are none of the things I associate with traditional in these images. xo

Eclectic, Eclectic, Eclectic! That's what I would label this room. Very nice, and I can see why you'd be inspired by this!

I think there are traditional elements, but it is hardly traditional overall. I love it, too, because it is a mix of classic pieces with some really awesome eclectic fun pieces.

Great question, though!

I love this room. It is very vibrant. Not what I would call traditional...
More like classic (not crazy) eclectic. But hey! I am very traditional! So there you have it.

This test sounds interesting... I will have to give it a look see.

I have no idea how I got to your blog, but boy, I absolutely love your style. About that photo, I agree with a few other posts, it looks eclectic to me. I adore your description of traditional as syrupy! I don't hate traditional but it is a tad heavy for me.

I wouldn't call it traditional. I can see the lines of the furniture may be that, but with the colors, fabrics and textures throughout combined it is not traditional in my opinion.
