An Unexpected Opportunity

This past week has been a whirlwind as I have been given a very unexpected and last minute opportunity to attend a Doula Training Workshop. The Doula Training Workshop is a full-weekend of training, and is one of the biggest requirements to becoming a birth doula. I have been attempting to attend this workshop for a year and a half, and every attempt has faced a road block. One time, the workshop filled up before I could register, and another time the workshop was canceled at the last minute. I knew about the workshop this weekend, but several months ago, I decided that I could not commit to an intense workshop at 8 months pregnant. I had given up on the hope of attending the workshop before Baby # 2 arrived, and figured maybe I would work it out sometime next year when the baby is older.

However, I received an email at the beginning of the week about this workshop: there were openings AND they were offering scholarships!! We are in a very tight financial position, and there was no way that I could have attended at this point. So I applied for the scholarship and was accepted! (It's a partial scholarship, so we still have to scrape together some money, as well as the added strain of David taking off work). But it made it possible!

I am so excited to spend an entire weekend dedicated to one of my favorite subjects: birth! And I am sure that I will learn so much.

Nonetheless, getting everything together is a little crazy at the moment. But I'm sure it will all be worth it in the end...

Wish me luck!

Oh, how amazing! Please be sure to update us after you've returned from the workshop. I am fascinated by CNM's and doulas (plan on having both at Baby Lukie's home birth) and would love to hear about your experience :)

Awesome! I'm so happy for you. Isn't it amazing when things fall in place and we benefit to the fullest extent?
