First taste of imperfection- and thankfulness

Dmitri has been very sick with a stomach virus/cold. It is so sad to see his perfect little body racked with pain. He is miserable. We were quite worried that he was becoming dehydrated because he has vomited everything that he has eaten and refused to eat. I was up with him all night last night. He's run a high fever since yesterday afternoon.

I never thought about how sad it is to see one's child sick. I often feel helpless! Everything makes him cry. I'm not used to this- he hardly ever makes a peep, well, except for the sometimes endless happy chatter.

He is down for a nap, and I'm hoping that he will feel better when he wakes up! I am so grateful that he has been healthy thus far, and that we have been blessed with a full-term baby, despite my pre-term labor.

During his respite, I am baking, baking, baking!

-Homemade cranberry sauce
-Raspberry trifle
-Pound cake (for the trifle)
-Pumpkin pie
-Medjool dates & mascarpone cheese drizzled in chocolate

We have our annual Thanksgiving dinner with the Parker family tomorrow at Neal and Deborah's new house- which is gorgeous! I'm sure it will be a lot of fun!
